Loetju.id - Last seen in 2019 after releasing an original single, emotive unit Beeswax returns to the music scene. with a brand new work called “Chew It All”. Officially released digitally on September 22nd, 2023 via Yallfears, this marks the first original piece from the band after four years and it witnesses a new chapter from the band in terms of its musical landscape.
Beeswax is known as one of the pioneers of Midwest-emo revival in Indonesia with its signature jangly guitar twinkle and emotive lyrics. Through their new single, with the
influence of angst and heavier sound, Bagas Yudhiswa (vocal/guitar), Putra Vibrananda (bass/vocal) and Yanuar Ade Laksono (drum) create a brand new nuance to the band’s discography and musical exploration.
As the songwriter and composer of this song, Bagas expressed the stagnancy he experienced while looking for inspirations from previous works. Thus, he maneuvered with various modifications and listened to a wider bunch of sounds until “Chew It All” was finalized.
“Chew It All” talks about acceptance and closure after facing hardship. Swallowing the bitterness and trying hard to hold on to the ground, one’s strongest challenge must be faced eventually. With the help of Iqbal Febrian from Yallfears, an artwork depicting an x-ray of lungs that are filled with fluid becomes a visualization
for the song that spans 3 minutes and 4 seconds. The mixing and mastering for this song was done by Bagas himself and it took roughly 3 months with numerous iterations, until the single reached unanimous approval from all members to be released to the world. Becoming their comeback single after a while, the band who is known for their single “Fix” also plans for an audio visual as a present for their listeners who patiently wait for their return.
The single is released two days before their performance at Pestapora, a music festival based in Jakarta. Of course, “Chew It All” will be performed there as well as their other upcoming gigs.
Moreover, Beeswax also shows determination to keep being productive in the last quartal of 2023 by producing more songs in the following months.
